Laser Pattern system:
The entire cell deposition microscope, shown in Fig. 1, was built around a stationary downward-propagating laser beam that was focused to produce a guidance region in the cell-deposition chamber, where a cell was trapped in the beam center and pushed downward to the substrate. Recently, we are using this system to pattern rat neonatal cardiomyocytes and rat mesenchymal stem cells in single cell level into coculture microwells (Fig. 2) for investigating the electrical and mechanical couplings, and also laser patterned neurons formed neuronal network shown in Fig. 3. |
